Pamphlet and Postcard Election Intiative - May-June 2014.
IMPORTANT - CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - PLEASE READ
We have 20,000 pamphlets and 20,000 postcards for distribution during and after the 2014 Ontario election. You can view these at the following links:

Please consider helping us out. Many hands make light work. Please also feel free to print additional copies of these as required.
We'd like to have volunteers hand out our pamphlet and postcard (tucked into 1 in 3 pamphlets, plus given to anyone else who asks for one) at all candidate meetings in as many ridings as possible during the provincial election. You can call any of your local candidate campaign offices to find out when and where these meetings will be held.
We'd also like to distribute the postcards -- which discuss the Catholic high school religious programs exemption -- at Catholic high schools. Volunteers would cover crosswalks and other choke points passed by students walking to school to hand out the postcard to them. We would be just off school property so we could not be asked to leave or otherwise be harassed. We believe that only about 100 postcards per school would be required to ensure wide dissemination of our message by word of mouth (but no need to stop at 100 if enthusiastically received). This should take no more than 15-20 minutes per school before the opening bell, which could be done on your way to work. A volunteer could cover one Catholic high school per day, but even if you can only do one school we'd be most appreciative.
First and foremost, we want the "open access" non-Catholic students in grades 9-12 to know religious programs are not mandatory. We'd also like Catholic students (who are most likely not regular Church-goers) to know the same opt-out is available to them if they become "open access" students at their Catholic high school, which their parents can accomplish be re-designating themselves "public school supporters" on their municipal assessment forms.
Consider getting a friend or two to help you out. Doing so makes the activity more social and allows you to cover an event or school (which typically has more than one walking approach) more effectively.
The pamphlets and postcards are being distributed from Toronto and Ottawa. Message Leonard Baak (Ottawa) or Justin Trottier (Toronto) on Facebook if you can help out and we'll try to find a way to get some to you. You can also email [email protected].
Your participation is very important. Let's continue to make a difference in this election by raising our issue up in the public consciousness. We are pushing a rock uphill to the tipping point. When we get it to the top, there will be no stopping its downhill roll!
